PlaceChangers to help decarbonisation of housing as part of Challenge North Tyne programme

PlaceChangers has been selected for the Challenge North Tyne Accelerator Programme with a proposal to help decarbonisation of North East housing.

This R&D project will involve two workshops, prototyping, and technical development resulting in a place analytics tool, designed to analyse the energy efficiency of existing homes and provide insights for neighborhood-scale retrofit program strategies.

The project will built on PlaceChangers' Site Insights tool, which enables planners to analyse places based on a wide range of data.

Sebastian, founder at PlaceChangers said

Tackling the decarbonisation of our existing housing requires effective methods to scope place-based intervention. Currently, energy efficiency data on properties is unnecessarily hard to visualise or understand. To unlock place-based investments, also requires efficient ways to consider land ownership to understand intervention potential on neighbourhood-scale.

Alex Moon, CTO at PlaceChangers said:

PlaceChangers has a proven track record in geospatial place analysis and have developed site specific analytical tools which are currently being used by various local authorities and firms to understand socio-demographics and access to key social amenities.
